I came across a very interesting type of TV… though I am sure we have all be exposed to it over our growing years we probably never identified it as such:
Public-service broadcasters generally transmit programming that aims to improve society by informing viewers. In contrast, the aim of commercial outlets is to provide popular content that attracts a large audience, maximizing revenue from advertising and sponsorship. For this reason, the ideals of public broadcasting are often hard to reconcile with commercial goals.
This is a huge difference between the two types of channels… if we are able to identify all the public broadcasting channels that actually try and improve us as human beings I think it would help us a great deal.
Take a look at http://www.pbs.org/ . It has content specifically for teachers, kids, parents etc. Though I have not verified the content it looks great!
